Fevers and Seizures

Kylee has seizures when she spikes a high fever. She had only had one when she was 11 months old but last friday she had another one. We didn't even know she was sick. She was acting fine, and I felt her and she seemed a bit warm so I gave her some tylenol and just figured it was from teething. Well not 20 minutes later, she started seizing. I was home alone and it was scary. The last time she had one, it was while we were at the doctor's office. Anyway, we went to the ER and they said she had an ear infection. Today we went to our regular doctor for a follow up and not only does she NOT have an ear infection, but she was taking antibiotics for nothing. She has some viral thing that they do not even treat with medications. She is fine now, other then being a bit fussy. I know these sort of seizures are harmless but they are scary none the less.

I came over from "On a Whim." My daughter also has febrile seizures. It is the scariest thing that has ever happen to me in my whole life. Her first one was at eleven months old and my hubby was gone, I thought the color would never come back to her face. I am so sorry someone else has to experience this. I wish I could say with each one it gets easier but it doesn't. She has had many others. Luckily the doctors say she will grow out of it. When??? I am ready now! I am always looking out for runny noses, I try avoid her getting sick at all costs.

That is horribly scary... I didn't know they were harmless... I hope she is doing well now. I am sorry they mis-diagnosed her. That would have made me mad too!
